I’m not going to lie: despite its flaws, I enjoyed this book.

It seems to have been inspired by The Hunger Games in concept and it falls short when you compare the two. But ignoring all comparisons and taking The Selection at face value, it was a quick and easy read with some funny parts.

    I enjoyed:

◘ Prince Maxon and America together are a hoot
◘ That the competitors aren’t all scratching one another’s eyes out; there are some 3D characters in there
◘ The royal family seems nice enough

    I wanted:

    ◘ More world building.

There’s a lot that’s unclear here. Why is there a curfew? Why is sex before marriage a crime? Why the caste system?

What year are we even in? There are too many undeveloped elements to the world.
