Enrique Granados was a Spanish composer and pianist known for his music that heavily incorporated elements of Spanish folklore.
He was born on July 27, 1867, in Lleida, Catalonia.

His father, a Cuban by birth, was an officer in the Spanish army, which led to Granados receiving his first piano lessons and music theory from a military orchestra conductor. However, the family soon moved to Barcelona, where Granados began serious musical studies, taking piano lessons from F.
Hurnet and H. Pujol, and composition lessons from F. Pedrell. From 1887 to 1889, Granados lived in Paris, where he studied with C. de Beriot.
